The daughter of Frank and Laura Mae (Sanborn) Riley, she was born at home on February 14, 1928 in Sabattus Village. Mrs. Salk attended local schools and graduated from Sabattus High School in 1946. Mrs. Salk was a lifelong member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxillary and volunteered her services at Central Maine Medical Center. Having always enjoyed travel, she resided in Texas, Florida, Connecticut and Massachusetts prior to returning to the Lewiston / Auburn area. She was married to Leonard D. Salk, who predeceased her in 1990 and maintained their home in Lewiston for the last 40 years. This past year she resided at Bolster Heights in Auburn. Joyce will be forever remembered by family and friends for her love of parties and her laughter. We will always see that tilt of her head, her twinkling eyes and spectacular smile.
