LEWISTON – Joseph Norman Ouellette passed away Monday Dec. 10, 2018 at age 95. He was born to Euthrope and Anna Ouellette on April 5, 1923. Having been one of 18 brothers and sisters, Joseph grew up on a farm in northern Maine and moved to southern Maine to work in the ship yards at the start of WWII. He served in the United States Army/Air Corps during WWII. Upon returning, he worked in the mills in Lewiston, and then worked for 40 years at the Aroostook Fence Company, where he retired at age 72. In 2016, Joseph was able to take the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. which he was very proud of.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Debra White of Lewiston; sisters, Alice Ouellette Rodrigue of Lewiston and her companion, Al Blier, and Evelyn Curless of Auburn; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; wife, Elizabeth (Miller); daughter, Anna Dube, sons, Robert Ouellette and Michael Ouellette; and several siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 14, at Fortins in Auburn, 217 Turner Street, Auburn. A funeral service will be held at Fortins/Auburn at 10 a.m., Saturday December 15, with a light brunch to follow, also at the funeral home. A committal service will take place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Monday, 10 a.m. December 17.
