James Lozis

Jim was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 9, 1960. He graduated from Edward Little High School and shortly after joined the Air Force. Jim enlisted for six years in the military with the majority of time spent in Okinawa, Japan. He served as a crew chief working on the SR-71 Blackbird (reconnaissance aircraft).

Jim recently retired from the Oxford Hills School District where he worked as a Senior Maintenance Technician. There were very few things that Jim could not build, repair, take apart and put back together. He enjoyed his job and the people with whom he worked.

He was happiest when outdoors: fishing, ice fishing, being out on the water in his boat, scuba diving, and working around his camp on the river where he made his home in Turner, Maine. He enjoyed cookouts with family and friends around the firepit he built. Jim was skilled in carpentry, electrical work, welding, plumbing, and machinery. He was a stickler for perfection in his many projects. A fun fact about Jim is that he was always looking for a good deal. He would trade a snowmobile for a boat motor, for an ATV, and so on.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother Lucretia Lozis, father Bernard Lozis and his son Luke Lozis.

Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Jamie Lozis, daughter Allie Cullen, brother Scott Lozis, sister Linda Lozis, his former spouse Kristine Wilson, and niece Kate Lozis.

The family wishes to thank the kind, expert staff at The Androscoggin Hospice House for their care and support during his illness. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to The Hospice House in Jim’s name. The burial service will be private.
