Irene was born on June 28, 1943, and grew up on the family farm on Hatch Rd. in Auburn. She graduated Edward Little in 1961. In 1962, she married Richard Samson and began a family. She was kept busy raising her three children, taking them to activities and sporting events. Irene took great pride in homemaking through, gardening, cooking, and landscaping. She also loved collecting recipe books, taking walks at Range Pond State Park, and going to the gym and aerobics classes daily in the 80's. She adored all animals, especially her dog Nicolas and Coco the rabbit.
Irene was predeceased by her parents Donat and Idella Lemieux, grandmother Clara LeClair, sister Jeannette Nadeau, and nephew Robert Nadeau. She is survived by her son Gregory Samson and wife Corina Samson, son Kevin Samson and wife Elizabeth Samson, and daughter Cheryl Samson-Plourd and husband William Plourd. Irene is also survived by three grandchildren: Zachary Samson, Benjamin Samson, and Dylan Samson-McKenna, and her former son in-law, Maurice McKenna.
The family would like to thank the staff of CMMC Hematology and Oncology, and the staff at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn for their comforting care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, March 19th from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn Maine, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Ending with a procession to St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's name may be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston.
