David Brook, 60, Auburn, ME died Sunday, January 22, 2012. David was born January 5, 1952, to the late Jeffrey Jabez Brook and Freda Tappe Brook in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. David graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1975 with a B.S. in Geology and Geophysics. David worked at Bath Iron Works for over 20 years, where he was an Associate Engineer involved with design and information technology.
David was someone who touched many lives, each in a special way. He brought a natural smile and laughter to almost everything he did. Friendliness, helpfulness, honesty and lack of pretension marked David all his days. He sought to find joy each day. Whether it was helping to build a new skating rink at the Falmouth Family Ice Center, assisting co-workers at Bath Iron Works, helping his daughters Allison and Erica, or dancing, skating, hiking, sailing, and studying scripture with his wife and friends, his involvement always seemed to buoy everyone around him.
David Brook and Darlene Beach were married June 19, 2011. Both David and Darlene had lost a beloved spouse to a terminal illness in 2005, James Beach to non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Caroline Gardiner, to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis “ALS” or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”
A loving and devoted husband and father, David is survived by his wife Darlene Beach, his daughters and son-in-law , Allison Gardiner Gray and Jeremy Gray, and Erica Sanchez; his stepson Scott Wohr, and Darlene’s daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Brent Pemberton, and her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Sean. Jennifer, Ava CorinneTurner. David is also survived by his three brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Brook, Jim and Nancy Brook and Jeff; and sister and brother-in-law Carol Brook and Steve Stuckert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cory Gardiner and Terry Kungel, Maggie Gardiner, Tim Gardiner, and William and Virginia Gardiner; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be Friday, January 27, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, ME 04210 (207) 783-8545.
