Daniel J. O'Neil

Daniel J. O'Neil (Danny), 81, of Auburn passed away on Friday May 20, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in Lewiston January 24, 1930 a son of the late Anthony and Helen (Ham) O'Neil. Dan was a graduate of Lewiston High School class of 1948 and then went on to the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He married the love of his life Lorraine Giasson June 21, 1958. Throughout his life Dan worked as a mechanic for Davis Cadillac, for the City of Auburn and for 26 years as a truck driver until his retirement. After his retirement he remained very active working as a handyman, and grounds keeper for several neighbors. Dan enjoyed spending time with family & friends, going to car shows, taking motorcycle trips and camping at the Fryeburg Fair. He was a member of the VFW Post 1603 and the American Legion Post 153. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, his children: Erin Travers and her husband Don, Kelly Ducas and her husband Erik, and Daniel J. O'Neil II; siblings: John O'Neil and Marjorie O'Neil; three grandchildren: Heather, Donovan and Kitara; two great-grandchildren Noah and Desirae; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
