Beloved wife of the late Alburn Wesley Davis Jr. for 75 years; dear mother of Barbara (Wes) Schaar and Bonnie (Michael) King; loving grandmother of Sharyn (Matt) Grohoski, Crystal Schaar, Steven (Stacy) and Jason (Lisa) King; great-grandmother of Lindsey, Justin, Katelyn, Kayleigh, Lilianna, and Julianna; dear sister of Betty (the late Donald) Davis. Preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ruby (nee Johnson) Howell, and sisters Dorothy Granger and Evelyn Farrar.
Ruth was born on June 6, 1922 in Pontiac and was a lifelong resident of Auburn Hills. She graduated from Auburn Heights High School. She married Alburn Wesley Davis Jr. on June 13th, 1942 in Auburn Hills. During World War II, while her husband was serving the Army, Ruth drove GM Army Cargo trucks from the assembly line to the storage yard. Later she worked for many years as a bus driver for the Avondale School District. Following Alburn’s retirement, they spent several years living between residences in Holiday, Florida and Mio, Michigan. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed spending time outdoors and putting puzzles together, of which she has completed well over a thousand.
Ruth’s family will welcome all for a visitation on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 3530 Auburn Rd in downtown Auburn Hills, Michigan. Private services will be held at a later date. Interment at Aaron Webster Cemetery in Auburn Hills.
