Born in Alpena, Michigan on June 7, 1976, to George and the late Marilyn Van Wormer. Reed was a proud graduate from Avondale High School, Class of 1995. He went on to a build a career, working for General Motors and later UWM. Beyond his professional achievements, Reed took immense pride in his membership as a freemason, achieving the distinguished rank of Master Mason. Reed had a love for sports, particularly baseball and all things related to the University of Michigan. Whether traveling the open road, relaxing by Michigan's beautiful lakes, or entertaining family and friends with his sharp wit and legendary one-liners, Reed had a unique way of making everyone around him laugh and smile. He truly was the king of humor and kindness.
Reed is survived by his father George Van Wormer, his brothers Scott Van Wormer and Ryan Van Wormer (Samantha), his beloved niece Alexis Van Wormer (Sam), and nephew Connor Van Wormer. He is survived by numerous extended family members and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Marilyn Van Wormer.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Reed's life on Friday, December 20, with a visitation from 4-8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home Auburn Hills, 3530 Auburn Rd., Auburn Hills, MI, 48326. Service will take place Saturday, December 21, beginning with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a Masonic Memorial at 12 p.m. and the 1 p.m. service at Pixley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Reed's honor can be made to Shriners.
