Jose "Joe" Angel Cruz

Cruz, Jose Angel, "Joe", age 66, formerly of Troy, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended Jules E. Mastbaum High School. He proudly served as an Army National Guard soldier in 1976. He married Maria Delgado in 1977; they had 2 daughters together. Later, amicably separating in 1990. He earned his degree from Oakland University before going on to work in Social Services as a case manager, helping troubled youth. Joe was a very friendly, fun-loving man who always had a joyful presence about him. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Joe had a passion for reading, cinema, boxing, nature walks, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with loved ones. He is survived by his daughters: Malissa (Angelo) Vettraino, Amanda (Chris) Herberg; and his grandchildren: Peyton Vettraino, Gabriel Herberg, and Noah Herberg.

A memorial visitation for Joe will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Rd., Auburn Hills, Michigan 48307, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
