John Doyle Gromer

John was born the son of Thomas and Estelle Gromer in Essex, Missouri on April 11th, 1930. He joined the US. Army at age 15 and served in Okinawa, Japan after WWII. John married Deloris Maulding for 67 years before her passing in 2016. John held positions at General Motors, Pool Boy, and Combustion Engines, working until he was 91 years old in order to stay active.

John loved God and loved his family. He enjoyed work of all kinds. In younger years, he traveled often to Missouri and Canada to visit family.

John is survived by his daughter Pamela Gartee; grandchildren Jeremy (Tiffany) Gartee, Matthew (Jade) Gartee, Johnathan Gromer, and Lauren Gromer; great-grandchildren Kori Gartee, Maxx Gartee, Hailey Gartee, Ellie Gartee, Sophie Gartee, and Caleb Gromer; sister Dorothy Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents; siblings A.D. Gromer, Larry Gromer, Bea Gromer, Mary Jo Gromer, and Stella Abner.

John’s family will welcome all to a visitation on Wednesday September 4th, 2024 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at noon at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 3530 Auburn Road in downtown Auburn Hills, Michigan. Interment will follow at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Independence Township, Michigan.
