Jackie is survived by her children, Steve, Theresa and Brian; her grandchildren, Monica, Justin, Kayla, Kyle, Brianna, Andrew, Angela, Jessica and Shawna; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Simon “Willey” and her daughter Debbie.
Born in Avon Township, she was the daughter of Stanley and Gladys (Dickinson) McHaney. She spent her childhood in Rochester and graduated from Avondale High School in 1956. She married Simon Willey and moved to Auburn Heights, where they raised their family.
She was an amazing homemaker and worked at Cunningham Drugs/CVS, where she made new friends every day. She was a favorite of her co-workers and frequent customers. She was also a past member of the American Legion Hill-Gazette Post 143 in Auburn Hills.
Jackie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings and holiday traditions – many that will live on with her children and grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; crocheting afghans, reading books, crossword puzzles and some of the craziest TV shows. She will be dearly missed by her little dog, Sushi. She made sure to feed the squirrels daily so Sushi could sit and bark at them. It was a relationship they all enjoyed, including the squirrels.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister Betty Bowen and brothers Stanley McHaney and Gerald McHaney.
She will also be dearly missed by family that formed through marriage but became as close as the real thing.
Due to the Coronavirus, no service will be held and burial will be private at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the passionate, hard-working healthcare professionals at Beaumont Hospital, Troy and Ascension Providence Rochester. Our hearts are with you during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would like to make a request that we all stay home, stay safe and save lives.
