A celebration of life for Ursula will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, California.

Ursula Ann Johnson passed away November 20, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo Bates lea and Ursula Gibson Lea, her brother Lorenzo Bates Lea and her husband, Herbert C Johnson. She is survived by her children, Amelia Bosque of Castro Valley, CA and Brian Johnson of Fair Oaks, CA, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Ursula was an artist and had man talents. For those who knew her, she will be remembered for her love of life, her laugh and positive attitude.
Ursula was born in St. Louis, MO. She spent most of her young childhood in Florida with many fond memories of life in the South. Her family then moved to Newark, Ohio. She was well educated in high school mastering English and art. She loved to write, especially poems. Se was an art and journalism major at Dennison University in Ohio and at Ohio State. She met Herbert in Ohio, as he had an engineering job in Columbus. They were married in 1951 and were able to celebrate 60 years of marriage. They started their family in Columbus, then moved to California in 1958, as Herbert’s new engineering job was in San Francisco. They raised their family in Novato and San Rafael.
Ursula was very involved in the art world. She was a member of Marin Society of artists and had many art shows in the Bay Area. She continually studied art and learned new concepts. Her favorite art workshop was at Mendocino Arts, Mendocino California. She showed her work there every year for about 30 years. She is included in a fabulous book about Mendocino artists.
In later years, Ursula and Herbert moved to Auburn and then to Lincoln. Ursula was a member of Blue Line Arts in Roseville and showed her artwork there for many years. She retired from art at at age 94.
Ursula will be missed by all who knew her.
