Susan Lynn (Rime) Wilkerson, age 75, of Auburn, California passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 surrounded by family and lots of love. She left us too soon but Heaven must have needed our strong, funny, beautiful, amazing Mom with her infectious laugh and wicked sense of humor.
Sue was born July 28, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin to Stanley and Wanda (Jenson) Rime. Sue grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm where she began her love of animals, the Green Bay Packers, but not cheese. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1964 and had many interesting jobs including working at the radio station WCLO in Janesville, Wi before moving to California in 1972. She had a long and successful career in the commercial door industry before retiring. Retirement didn't stop her but gave her more time to be outdoors gardening, watching her grandchildren's sports and activities or being on the tractor doing chores.
Sue and her husband Jerry liked to travel and their favorite place to go was Alaska, if they weren't driving to Wisconsin. They liked cruises and traveling with their 5th wheel or on the train as Sue refused to fly. Sue was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with her teams at state and national bowling tournaments, as long as she didn't have to fly to get there. Her favorite tournament was in Reno NV on the weekend of the Kentucky Derby where she would place her $2 bet and cheer for her horse. Sue had a love of country music and enjoyed going to concerts but her favorite was always Willie.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wilkerson and is survived by her sister Sharon Dembro (Mark), son John Wilkerson (Cindy) and their children Brandon Wilkerson (Stefanie) and Carli Wilkerson; her daugher Tracy Ivey and her children Gary Schimidt and Dannon Ivey; and daughter Keri Davidson (Ben) and their children Victoria and Abby Davidson. She is also survived by her stepchildren Janet Wodich and family, Joanne Hundley and family and Jim Wilkerson (Dana) and family. She was blessed to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue had a huge love of animals, especially horses, and raised them for many years. Sue was always quick to help nurse a newborn animal or care for one that was sick or injured. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gold Country Wildlife Rescue in Sue's name at goldcountrywildliferesuce.org.
A celebration of life is planned on June 25, 2022 at the Auburn Elk's Lodge at 195 Pine St, Auburn, CA. We'll have more details soon, please save the date and send pictures or funny stories you may have with our Mom.
