Bob/Daddio/Bobby D, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Penryn, California. Bob was born in Bay City, Michigan, and grew up in Lincoln Park. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School and Eastern Michigan University, where he was a varsity swimmer at both schools. Bob was a father to three daughters, whom he adored, and had a successful career in medical sales. Clear Lake, Michigan was a large part of his childhood and a special place he took his girls to for decades. In 1991, he moved to California and met his loving wife, Marge, while he also fulfilled his dream of becoming a self-employed woodworker.
One of the things that made Bob happiest was when he was doing anything woodworking related. He attended summer classes at the College of the Redwoods School of Fine Woodworking, and was a member of the Sacramento Area Woodworkers and Auburn Area Woodworkers Guild. Bob was a collector, and spent many joyous hours in the back of antique stores and flea markets looking for treasures. He was known for being artistic, humorous, and a philosopher of life, who enjoyed sharing his perspectives. Bob was a charismatic person with several interests including nature, books, music, and animals. He and his wife also shared a love of travel.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents John Drotos and Ruth Evans Drotos. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marge Gessner, daughters Tracey Drotos (Ryan Robertson) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kimberly Galaviz (Ron) of Fishers, Indiana, and Katherine Drotos Cuthbert (Chap) of Franklin, Tennessee. He is also survived by grandchildren Natalie and Justin Galaviz, and step-grandchildren Chance, Maggie, and Joey Cuthbert. He was so very proud of each of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. Bob also left behind his loyal friends and neighbors, a large extended family and his beloved dog Rosco, and llamas Reina, Seda, and Juliette.
A celebration of life will be planned in California in the near future and West Branch, Michigan next summer. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital: https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR?px=8423920&fr_id=154020&pg=personal
