Our sweet son, Elijah Miguel Cortez, went home to be with our Lord on October 20, 2023.
Even though Miguel lost his hard fought battle with mental illness, Christ Jesus our King won the war!
The delicate art of holding both sorrow and joy in our feeble human hands, this is a great mystery indeed.
Miguel’s father, mother, two sisters (Selah, 21 and Elia, 15), brother (Sam 19), along with his AMAZING extended family, friends and community are deeply grieved at this tragic loss of such a beautiful life.
Yet, even as we mourn, we also celebrate and rejoice as we cling to the truth that Miguel is no longer suffering, he is no longer in pain.
He is finally FREE, he is finally HOME.
Miguel was born November 19, 2005 and within months it was evident that he was a boy filled with great passion, intensity, loyalty, devotion, strength and love. Miguel did nothing half way, pouring his very life into his family, sports, hobbies, friends and faith.
Every moment of life with Miguel was a gift and we are honored to have been his earthly family for the past 17 years.
“For there is therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” -Romans 8:1
