Mary Olivia Dutra

Mary Olivia (Garcia) Dutra was born in Faial, Acores. She married Joe Ramos Dutra, also of Faial on July 25, 1948 and had 3 daughters. She immigrated to the United States with her family, arriving on September 15, 1959. She lived in Newcastle, California over 40 years until her husband's death in June of 2000, and spent the last 12 years in Santa Rosa, California. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Ligia (and son-in-law Rui) Sa of Cascais, Portugal, Mary Jo Dutra (son-in-law Gary Briggs) of Santa Rosa, California, and Isabel Dutra (son-in-law James Brown) of San Diego, California; granddaughters Sandra Dutra Castro (husband Karl Bhatnager) of Spain, Sonia Dutra Castro of Los Angels, California, and Dutra Amelia Brown of Los Angels, California; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and Portugal. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her great spirit, wickedly funny sense of humor and her warm beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed.
