

Mae Kimiko Hamasaki was born on February 15, 1923 in Santa Rosa, CA to Toraki and Minoe Furusho. She grew up in Sebastopol, CA . During World War II, her family was interned at the Granada Relocation Center in Colorado. After the war, Mae spent many years working for the federal government in San Francisco as an administrative assistant. In 1960, she married Hatsumasa Hamasaki and moved to Loomis. There, they raised their two children. After her children were grown, Mae returned to work for the government, this time in Auburn, CA. After retiring, Mae enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and watching game shows on TV, especially Jeopardy. She was a longtime member of the Placer Buddhist Church. Mae died peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2015 in Auburn, CA. She is survived by her husband, Hatsumasa Hamasaki, two children, Kim Wong (husband David) and Craig Hamasaki (wife Sara), and four grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Wong and Kyle and Emily Hamasaki. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Hamasaki, her sister, Miki Sugimoto, and her brothers, Joe and Tom Furusho. Memorial services will be held privately.
