Lonnie was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Jean Durfee. She is survived by her father, James H. Durfee of Auburn, her brother, Jim (Peggy) Durfee of Loomis, her sisters Leslie (Gary) Krymer of Oceanside and Linda (Chris) Angel of Loomis. She also leaves behind her longtime partner, Kent Nebeker.
Lonnie was the proud aunt of Sara Durfee, Teisha Phillips, Christopher Angel, Randee Krymer, Mindee Krymer and Kimmee Helbak, and great aunt of Avery and Riley Phillips and Henry and Lucy Helbak. Although she didn’t have children of her own, Lonnie considered her nieces and nephews, “her kids”.
Lonnie attended Colfax High School and Del Oro High School where she excelled in art and academics and graduated in the Class of 1973.
Lonnie’s true passions were art, music and animals. She loved to paint, sketch and cartoon. She will continue to be remembered through her artwork. Lonnie loved animals and had many cherished pets over the years.
Lonnie was a rock and roll fan and especially loved The Beatles, The Who, Queen and Dokken. Some of her happiest times were at concerts or listening to music with her friends.
Lonnie was kind hearted and had a quick sense of humor. Her smile and laughter could light up a room. She will be greatly missed by her family and by the many friends that she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Newcastle Portuguese Hall, 690 Taylor Road, Newcastle.
