Jack Sullivan Knuckey, 84, of Foresthill, California, passed away September 1, 2019. He was born in 1935 in Auburn, California and adopted by Thomas and Ann Knuckey of Grass Valley, California. After graduating from Nevada Union High School in 1953, he served in the United States Army. After his military service, Jack returned to Grass Valley and married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Rose Bryant of Nevada City. Jack and Charlene moved to Foresthill, California in 1959 where Jack began his career with the U.S. Forest Service on the Tahoe National Forest where he worked for 38 years until his retirement. Jack spent his retirement years rebuilding his 1956 Ford pickup and doting on his beloved Labrador retriever. Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlene, one daughter; Chris Ann (Stanley) Downum, son, Charles Knuckey; and two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Brett; one great-grandson, Luke; niece, Deanna Knuckey Hoffman, and nephew, Robert Knuckey. He is preceded in death by brothers; Frank Knuckey and Gerald Knuckey. At Jack’s request, services will be private.
