On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Donald George Shelton, loving husband and father of four passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 82.
Don was born in Hugo, Oklahoma, on November 19, 1938. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 1, 1955 to patriotically serve his country for four years.
On July 10, 1971, he married the love of his life, Peggy Wood-Yocum, for 50 happy years. Don is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Shaw (Stan) of Wallace, CA, Kathleen Fontaine of Lodi, CA, and son Curtis Shelton (Nancy) of Chattanooga, TN, and his step-daughter Jeryl Boyles of Yuba City, CA, as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Don’s career started in the service department at Davis Tractors in Stockton, CA. He quickly moved into a Sales position and moved to Case tractors located in Sacramento, CA. In 1980, Don ventured out to pursue his passion for starting his own business, Don’s Line Construction. Don’s new venture focused on the installation and removal of cable TV and telephone lines. Don retired in 1982 so that he could enjoy his fishing and hunting passion.
Don was easy-going, a devoted friend and neighbor to many. Don and Peggy loved to travel in their beloved motorhome. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Alaska enjoying Deer & Elk hunting and deep-sea fishing along the way. Don loved his boat “Good Times,” creating fishing maps and making lures. He enjoyed watching wildlife in his and Peggy’s yard, where they lived for 49 years.
Don had an amazing twinkle in his eye that will be missed forever.
