Philip E. Thompson (78) of Attica died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home. He was born October 7, 1934 in Bellville to the late J. Warren and Gladys (Bixler) Thompson. Philip served in the US Navy and worked several years at his family’s mill (Thompson Mill) in Attica then became a supervisor at Country Star in New Washington. He was a licensed grain grader and a member of the Car Coddlers of Ohio. Philip also enjoyed carpentry, electrical work and anything he could work on in Phil’s fix-it-shop.
Mr. Thompson is survived by 2 daughters: Kelly (Bryan) Shock of Attica and Karlene (Michael) Jones of Maumee. 4 grandchildren: Michala (Charles) Mohr of Attica, Kyle Shock of Attica, Austin and Allie Jones of Maumee. 1 great grandson: Kellen Mohr. 3 brothers: Paul L. (Lenora) Thompson of Bloomville, David W. (Anita) Thompson of Attica and Wesley W. (Diana) Thompson of Attica. 1 sister: Janet (Robert) Featheringill of Attica. He was preceded by a his wife: Ruth Ann (Wise) Thompson whom preceded him in death in 2009, daughter: Kimberly Thompson and brother: Joseph Thompson.
A public gathering to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 295 W. Tiffin Street, Attica with military rite being provided by the Attica American Legion at 8:00 PM.
