Alfred H. Falter, age 95 of Attica, died on October 4, 2012 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin. He was born on December 9, 1916 near Attica to the late Clem and Clara (Wechter) Falter. He was married to Marie (Mayer) Falter on June 10, 1939. She passed away shortly before their fiftieth wedding anniversary in April 1989.
He is survived by his son, Al (Sherry) Falter Jr. of Naples, FL; 3 daughters, Mary Jane (F.J.) Dick of Attica; Ruth (Joe) Costanzo of Spartanburg, SC; and Donna (Gerald) Studer of Mansfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kevin (Julie) Claus of Lewis Center; Steve Shank of Perrysburg; Lisa (Steve) Donald of Boiling Springs, SC; Shari (Scott) Smith of Canal Winchester; Dennis (Theresa) Shank of Alexandria; Dana Ingram of Shelby; Martin (Kerrie) Shank of Clayton, NC; Kristi (Lance) Beglin of Shelby; and Michael Falter of Ewing, NJ. There are 22 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren. He is survived by a brother: Virgil Falter of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Falter; a great granddaughter, Laura Jane Shank; brothers, Cyril, Berdell, Leonard, Eugene and Gerald Falter; 3 sisters, Marcella Hippler, Bernadette Holmer and Bernadine Schaffer.
Alfred was a life-long resident of the area and a farmer by trade. This was supplemented by working at various jobs including driving milk truck, working at the ice plant in Willard, New Departure in Sandusky and the Mansfield Brass in New Washington. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and visiting with friends. His greatest joy was being with family.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 2-6 P.M. with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 295 W. Tiffin Street, Attica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica. Burial will follow in the St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hope Church, St Francis Home, or Bridge Hospice through the funeral home.
