She was born on March 9, 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Attalla by Gabriel and Lois Pettit. She graduated from Etowah High School in 1981 and completed community college for a degree in medical coding, but spent her life as a full-time mother and caregiver to her daughter, Dylan. Later, she was a full-time caregiver to her parents, Gabriel and Lois. Susan’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to the others in life, not by the sadness of her passing. Susan was a dedicated mother to her children and a devoted daughter. Above all, Susan was known for her kindness that touched the lives of everyone she loved, especially those that knew her as “Mom.” She opened her arms, her heart, and her home to all of her children, kith and kin.
Throughout her life, Susan was an avid collector of antiques and loved adventure. She was a movie enthusiast and enjoyed online shopping, knitting, and cooking. Susan greatly enjoyed ancestry research and caring for her dog, Zoey.
Susan was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Dylan Burson, and her mother, Lois Pettit.
She is survived by the love of her life, Danny Clonts; her children, Jeffrey Burson (Amanda), Jonathon Burson (Julianna), and step-daughter Leah Davies (Teddy); her granddaughter Aurora Burson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 2:30pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory with a graveside to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Attalla, AL. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 1:30pm.
