Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Rudy Wilson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and before the service on Thursday, April 17th, 2025 at 1:00 PM. The Revs. Jim MacCormack, Will Hughes, and Johnny Wilson will officiate. Burial in Steele Cemetery will follow. Morgan Funeral Chapel is directing.
Mr. Wilson was a member of Rainbow Community Church where he served as an usher. He retired from Sunset Farm Foods after 21 years of service, which capped off a 65-year career in “the meat business” as “the meat man.” He also served in the US Army during the Korean War as a proud cook, held many offices as a member of the American Legion Post 71, and served on the Etowah County Fair Board for many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wilson; daughter, Rita Hamilton; parents, Winston and Emma Jane Wilson; and numerous brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Josh (Britney) Hamilton and Lindsey Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Emily; special niece, Paulette Lee (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews; chosen daughter, Sherry Clayton; special friend, Irene Arledge; and a host of close friends whom he loved very much.
Pallbearers are Daniel Hubbard, Johnny Wilson, Mike Amos, Randall Green, Dennis Knight, and Daniel Clayton.
Honorary pallbearers are American Legion Post 71 and Sunset Farm Foods.
