On September 16, 1941, Raymond was born in Gadsden to Fred and Katie Grady. He graduated from Etowah High School and spent his career working hard as a welder, industrial painter, and driving factory equipment. He was a long time member of Steele United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Raymond enjoyed caring for his farm animals and tinkering with small projects. In later years, he took comfort in his favorite old Western shows and movies.
He met Annette Wood in Steele, Alabama where they settled to live life together for 54 years. They dreamed of a large family. While Rodney is the only child, the community is full of children that frequented the Grady home to be loved and accepted. Now multiple generations stake a claim in the Grady legacy. Raymond is remembered for letting his actions speak while his few words were rich with humor.
In addition to his wife (Annette), Raymond is survived by his son Rodney Grady (Cindy); his grandchildren Anna Grady and Joel Grady; his brother Gerald Grady; his sister Edna Gunnells; and his numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Fred and Katie Grady; his brothers Charles Grady, Buddy Grady, and David Grady; and his sister Joan Sauls.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Morgan Funeral Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Steele United Methodist Church.
