Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel, on Sunday, January 9th, 2022, 4:00 p.m. with the family accepting friends one hour prior to service. Bro. Bobby Bryant will be officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
John was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Etowah High School. He was an employee of the Steel Plant for many years and retired in 1997. John served his community by volunteering at the local police and fire department. He was a member of the Attalla Masonic Lodge No. 383 F. & A.M. for over 50 years. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Attalla and was a dedicated member of the choir.
John enjoyed many hobbies including duck hunting, fishing, and woodwork.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John H. Sr. and Joyce Dean Middleton; sister, Joyce Jean Middleton; wife of 46 years, Barbara Horsley Middleton, and second wife, Wilma Chambers Middleton.
Mr. Middleton is survived by his son, Mark Middleton (Vicki), daughter, Stacy Thompson; grandchildren, Kylie Grooms (D.J.), Katy Chandler (T.J.), Sydney Bishop (Andrew), Trey Thompson; great-grandchildren, Easton Grooms, Enzlie Grooms, and Kambree Chandler; sister-in-law, Pat Mannen; nieces, Cindi Morgan and Karen Scharbor (Robert); great-niece, Cierra Morgan; aunt, Margaret Dean; Godchildren, Jamie McConnell (Vid), Tommy McConnell (Kim), Kathy Wood (Phillip), a host of cousins, a multitude of chosen family, and special friend, Larry Starling Sr.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Chandler, D. J. Grooms, Andrew Bishop, Jamie McConnell, Tommy McConnell, and Phillip Wood.
Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Starling Sr.
