John Ray George Sr.

Visitation will be at Morgan Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Funeral Service will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 11 A.M.

Graveside Service will be following at Blount Memory Gardens in Oneonta.

He was the widower of the late Margaret Tiller George, and the youngest child of the late John T. and Ola Conn George.

John Ray is survived by his son, John Jr. and spouse Chris Shell of Simpsonville, SC; his daughter, Kathy G. Wortham and her husband Roger of Burns, TN and his grandchildren, Wesley Wortham (Li) of Dickson, TN; and Amy W. Craigmyle (Ben) of Madison, AL; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, John Ray was pre deceased by his sister Eudell G. Green, and brothers, Emmett J. and Jay A. George.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. John served in this U.S. Navy and worked in the industrial construction business retiring from Alabama Power. He was the oldest living member of the Millwright Local Union 1192. John Ray was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
