James Ray "Jim" Johnson, 77, a long time resident of Attalla, Alabama passed peacefully into his heavenly home on February 7, 2024. He was born October 14, 1946 in Gadsden, AL to James Andy Johnson and Era Pearl Terrell Johnson.
Jim grew to be a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all . He was a proud retired Navy Veteran and proud member of the Electricians Union IBEW Local 136. He was a faithful member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church and he loved the Lord. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Andy and Pearl Johnson, his brother Rex Lee Johnson, and his wife of 43 years, Dianne Cole Johnson. He is survived by his sons Marc Johnson and Josh Johnson, daughter Angie Johnson Burns, step-daughter Shannon French Shew, sister Sarah Lou Sims, grandchildren Drew, Anna, Aliyah, Katie, Karie, Chaz Johnson, Crystal Garrett, and Mackenzie Poole, and great-grandchildren Adelyn, Corin, Malee, Monroe, Paislee, Baylen, Leegion Ellis, Gunner, Gannon, and Gracelynn Garrett, and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday February 14th at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-10:30 for family and 10:30-12 for friends. Graveside service with military honors will be held after the main service at Williams Southside Memorial Gardens, in Southside.
Pallbearers will be his former co-workers the “Line Gang from Gulf States Steel.
