Hazel Christine Bohannon

Hazel Bohannon, age 90 of Southside, passed away Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, at home. She is now with Jesus and so many of her family that she was longing to see. Funeral Service will be Friday, October 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Her son, Terry Bohannon will officiate.

Hazel was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She loved her husband of 68 years with all her heart. They were inseparable and a beautiful example of what a godly marriage should be. She was a loving and devoted mother and the best Nana ever. She enjoyed taking care of her family and making memories. In her earlier years, she worked at a few places, but her desire was always to stay at home with her family.

Hazel could cook. Everyone loved coming to eat at her house. Her specialties were those homemade biscuits, pear preserves, fried apple pies, and her amazing chocolate cake, which was fought over at family reunions.

Hazel faithfully served the Lord from her youth and sang with her sisters at churches and on radio. She will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Grady and Mamie Humphrey, sisters, Ruby Jo Kelly, Ruth Norton, Doris Black, Faye McClure, Verna Blackburn, brothers, William Humphrey, J.D Humphrey, Robert Humphrey, Julius Humphrey, Wallace Humphrey, Carvan Humphrey, Jerry Humphrey, Daughter, Pam Estes; Great Grandson, Jackson Pace. Son-in-law, Danny Gaskey.

She is survived by her husband, James Bohannon; Daughter, Teresa Gaskey; Son, Terry Bohannon (Debbie), Chosen son, Terry Norton (Ruby), and Rick Estes, son-in-law. Sister, Jimmy Dean McClure, Peggy Peppers, 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr. Jason Ayers, Enhabit Hospice, especially Peyton and Elizabeth. Also, thanks to Kristy. A special thanks also to Hazel’s church home, Gadsden Christian Fellowship for their prayers and expressions of love during her illness.

Family will receive friends at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery immediately following service.
