Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Pauline Beason; aunts, Tempest Beason and Donice Beason; and sister, Patsy Beason.
Gary is survived by his brother, Jim (Leverne) Beason; children, Amy (Nick) Beason and Jeremy (Madeleine) Beason; his ex-wife, Jan Gaspers and her husband Nicke; grandchildren, Atticus Beason, Kateri Beason, Adele Beason, Ivy Malesko, Xavier Beason, and Liam Malesko.
Gary was born in Gadsden in 1952 to Carlton and Pauline Beason, he was the youngest of three children. Gary grew up in Steele, AL and attended Steele Elementary in his early years, and then went on to graduate in 1970 from Ashville High School. Following high school he attended International Electronics College in Birmingham, AL. He went to work for NCR repairing cash registers, and then on to Wang Laboratories working on computers. Over the next several decades he worked at various places, always in electronics or computers, eventually owning his own business.
From 1970 onward, Gary lived life to the fullest marrying, raising two kids, and balancing work and family. Along the way he developed a skill at woodworking, even crafting some of his own furniture. He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, and fishing with family and friends over the years. Motorcycles were a central part of his life since his teenage years. Over the years the motorcycles got bigger and the trips got longer. Long and short, Gary enjoyed the open road on two wheels. In his later years, when his illness kept him from riding motorcycles, Gary turned his interest to building and flying RC airplanes. He spent many a happy day up at the flying field in Ashville with his friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mike Klowsowsky for being there for our father over the years and especially in his last months.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested for donations be made in honor of Gary D. Beason to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
