Ernest "Ernie" Dayton Stone Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ernest “Ernie” Dayton Stone, Jr., age 84 of Attalla, will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Bro. Johnny Morrow officiating. Burial will Military Honors will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

Ernie passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home. He proudly served in the United States Navy, retiring after 23 years of honorable service, and worked at Redstone Arsenal for 20 years upon retiring. Ernie enjoyed building and working on electronics, especially RC Airplanes and Boats. He was a loving husband to Shirley, his wife of 62 years, a loving father and grandfather, and loved his two dogs.

He is survived by his children, Tony Stone (Wanda), Tammy Blanton, Michael Stone (Laura), Jeff Stone (Lynn) and Andrew Stone (Emily), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Stone, his parents, Ernest Dayton Stone, Sr. and Hazel Leah Alred Stone, and his sister, Patricia Ann Nieman.

Active Pallbearers will be Mike Stone, Jeff Stone, Shawn Stone, Kyle Blanton, Andy Stone and Hunter Burks.

Matthew Stone will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, friends and family for their loving care to Mr. Stone.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. until service time at 10:30 A.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
