Donald Rayburn Lassetter

Mr. Donald Rayburn Lassetter, age 84, of Gadsden, passed away May 20th , 2018. Visitation will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon, with funeral service immediately following at noon in the chapel. Interment will follow at Union FCM Church Cemetery in Boaz. The Reverends Leon Hunter and Rob Buchanan will officiate. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.

Don graduated from Ashville High School and attended Jacksonville State University. He was a member of The Valley Community Church, Reece City. He worked over 30 years at Republic Steel / LTV and served over 15 years as an ordained minister in Royal and Gadsden. He is preceded in death by his father, Troy A. Lassetter and mother Lula H. Lassetter, infant son, brother Lloyd and infant brother C.D.. Survivors include wife, Nell Lee Lassetter, daughter, Pamela (Robin) Buchanan, WV, son, Ed Lassetter, TN, grandson, Dr. Dustin Buchanan, IN, granddaughter, Diana Buchanan, IN. and several nieces and nephews.

Don’s hobbies included hunting and playing golf. He was an avid Bama fan. Pallbearers include Richard Durham, David Durham, Peyton Knop, Joe Mayo and Dr. Dustin Buchanan. Special thanks to the following doctors: Goodwin, Hakim, G. Patel and Chapman, along with the attending CCU nurses at Riverview Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Valley Community Church (in care of Jane Parker), 502 Henderson Street, Gadsden, AL 35904.
