Funeral Services for Mr. David G. Hood, age 95 of Rainbow City, will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jerry Epps officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
David passed away at his home on Thursday, November 10, 2022 in Riddles Bend surrounded by his family. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. David worked as a millwright at Republic Steel for 37 years and as an electrician in the community for even longer, helping many people along the way. He loved spending time outdoors at their home on Canoe Creek, tinkering in his shed and spending time with his family. He and Frances spent countless hours growing vegetables for themselves, friends, and family. He was a long-time member of Riddles Bend Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Frances; Sister Billie Faye Picht; Daughters Rebecca Ford and Jeanne (King) Wiggins; Granddaughters Heather (Mike) Wilson, Jodie (Will) Powell, and Jennifer Hunt (Michael van Der Bok); Great-grandchildren: Ella, Emme, Ina, Maggie, Wiley, as well a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Bessie Hood; Brothers Denmon, Hugh, Paul, Jerry, and Jack; Sisters Nell, Edna, Bonnie and Baby Lila Lois.
Pall bearers: Miles Albright, Wayne Hood, David A. Hood, Jay Hood, Jason Millirons, Hunter Millirons, and Rodney Peterson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
The family would like to thank all the neighbors and friends in “The Bend” for their kindness and care.
