Mr. Charles Ray Gore, age 75, of Southside entered the gates of heaven surrounded by family on Friday, April 11, 2025, after an extended illness. A service celebrating his life will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Deborah Elaine Gore, Daughter Pam (Sean) Stimpson, Son Johnny Gore, Grandchildren Tristan (Katlin) Stimpson, Hunter (Rhiannon) Gore, Andrew Gore, and Destinie (Peyton) Moore, Great Grandchildren Charlee Kate and Silas Sean Stimpson, Chosen Daughter Cristy Herron, Chosen Grandchildren Autumn (Will) Hardeman, Summer (Taylor) Garrett, Paden Herron (Austin), Chosen Great Grandchildren Evie and Easton Garrett and MJ and RJ Amos, Sister Linda (Harold) Davis, Ronald Gore, Lisa (Shane) Dean, Kenny Gore, Candy (Scott) Dean, Brother-in-law Dennis Jones, Mother-in-law Idora Burger, Sister-in-laws Brenda Maeger, Phyllis Hendrix, Pattie (Wally) Coker.
He was preceded in death by Mother Mary Naomi Gore, Father Cecil T. Gore, Stepmother Arlene Gore, Father-in-laws Vernon Fowler and Pat Burger, 3 Great grand babies, Brother Gene Duncan and Sister Alice Jones.
The pallbearers are Tristan Stimpson, Hunter Gore, Andrew Gore, Peyton Moore, Eric Hendrix, Dustin Hannah.
Honorary pallbearers: Candy Lyles, Ashlie Laster, Ginger Pittman with Visiting Angels; Alex West and Crystal from Enhabit Home Health; Kelsey Hill, Jay Beggs, Kara Howard, Slayde Mizell, Sharon Mabrey, and Raven Lamkin from ACG Hospice, Southside Fire & Rescue, Southside Police Department.
Charles met his soulmate Deborah at 15 years old. Together they journeyed his enlistment in the United States Army. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned several medals including: U.S Army Nameplate Sergeant E-5, 9th Infantry Division Sergeant E-5, 9th Infantry Division (Old Reliables), Vietnam War medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Army National Defense Service medal, U.S Army Expert Marksman Qualification badge, Army Commendation Medal W/1ST OLC, Army Presidential Unit Citation W/2 Bronze leaves, Artillery Quartermaster, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Gallantry Cross Medal with Bronze Star. After his return he and Deborah wed on April 18, 1970. He was extremely proud of his two children, Pam and Johnny, as well as his grand babies who were his entire world. Charles was a father figure and Pawpaw to many despite relation and always ensured everyone was taken care of. Charles was a faithful servant of the Lord. He and Deborah were members of the choir at First Baptist Southside where he also served as a deacon. He will be missed by all, but we are grateful to know that he is healed and rejoicing with the Lord.
