William Cicero Shepherd was born in N. Wilkesboro, N.C., on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941. He died of cancer at Piedmont Hospital, December 28, 2015. He grew up in Ferguson, N.C., graduating from Wilkes-Central High School and received his BA from Wake Forrest University in 1962. He went into sales and moved to Atlanta in 1968 and was with APD Automatic Transmission Parts, Inc. for many years, retiring in 2008. Bill loved weekends in Highlands, N.C., and a trip to Scotland in 2011, led by The Rev. John Bolton, was a highlight of his life. He enjoyed cooking and Saturday mornings at Morningside Market. He loved life and good friends, was a sports enthusiast and friends and family loved his warm personality. A member of The Cathedral of St. Philip for many years, he was a communicant of Church of Our Saviour. He was an active member of the John B. Gordon Camp, SCV, the Civil War Round Table, and World War II Round Table. He was predeceased by his father, Francis Mitchell Shepherd; mother, the former Veora Barnett; sister, Betty Lou Rampey and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Andrea Bethea Shepherd; son, William Pinson Shepherd (Tonya); grandson, David Pinson Shepherd of Alexandria, LA; his dear sister, Marguerite Shepherd Hayes of Ferguson, NC; sisters, Kathy Walsh Rinard and Rosetta Walsh of Virginia. Visitation will be at 1 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at H.M. Patterson, Spring Hill, 1020 Spring St., Atlanta, Ga. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM. The Rev. Father Zachery Thompson officiating.
