On Friday August 28, 2020, William Harrison Daniel, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 77. Harrison was preceded in death by his father, William Harrison Daniel, his mother Dorothy Franklin Daniel, his sister Dorothy Permelia Daniel and his wife Cynthia Payne Daniel. He is survived by his son Jeffrey Harrison Daniel (Valerie), his daughter Rebecca Daniel Long (Nelson) and grandsons, Maxwell Sullivan Daniel, Parker James Daniel, Thomas Harrison Long. Also, two maternal cousins, James Franklin Mann and Patricia Mann Ezell and their families.
Harrison was born on December 16, 1942 in Thomaston, GA to William Harrison and Dorothy Clyde Franklin Daniel. He graduated from R. E. Lee High School and went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Polytechnical School. He served in the National Guard following college. He was first employed by Southern Bell and after enjoying a successful career, retired from then Lucent Technologies. He met the love of his life, Cynthia Payne Daniel and never looked back. The two were inseparable, their love for one another was visible to the naked eye. They raised a son and daughter in a home filled with love, good times and dear friends. He was a loving father who instilled in his children what he knew to be true and right in the world. Teaching them to love first, and that it was always easier to be nice.
Harrison was a kind and caring man, always the first to help someone in need. Although he went by Harrison, if you were an old friend from way back, you knew him as Snake. He was quick with many witty one-liners, but you had to listen closely as he was soft-spoken. Snake loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved a good party and sitting up late telling tales with the boys. He surrounded himself by lifelong friends whom he loved dearly. He was fond of saying “If you die with a handful of lifelong honest friends, you have lived a great life”. He had more than a handful and for that he was truly grateful.
Harrison will be missed by all who knew and loved him. We know he is reunited with his beloved wife Cindy (who is likely telling him what to do once again), and they are no doubt catching up on their lost time together.
A private family memorial service is planned for a later date.Condolences and remembrances may be expressed by visiting www.hmpattersonoglethorpe.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, to help fund research to find a cure for Parkinson’s.
