Wendy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wesley Parton and Jay Parton. She is survived by her daughter, Addison; sons, Jacob and Ben; and sister, Jill Baeden (Jeff), along with nieces Jessica and Harley and nephews Brady and Joe. Her family loved her dearly and will especially miss her generosity of spirit, love, and passion. Wendy graduated from Dixie Heights High School in 1986 and earned her BA in political science from Northern Kentucky University and her Masters of Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati. In 1996, Wendy married Harry (Butch) Butler, with whom she built a life over the next 26 years.
After working as a land planner in a small law firm in Cincinnati, Wendy joined Sidney & Austin in Chicago, and Alston & Bird in Atlanta, before becoming a lawyer herself. She started her own firm in 2005; Wendy Butler & Associates served newly created cities around Atlanta with the law firm of Coleman Talley, LLP. Wendy contributed many hours to the public good as a board member of several community development organizations including MARTA, the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Brookhaven Feasibility Organization.
Wendy was a beautiful, confident, intelligent woman whose sharp wit and unmistakable laugh were her calling card. Even through her most difficult challenges, she carried with her a bright smile and a warm heart. Wendy considered her greatest accomplishment her children. She enjoyed gardening and watching her cooking shows. Her family is at peace knowing she is finally at rest and there is one more angel above.
