Walker Talbott Houk, beloved husband, father, son, uncle and brother, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2018. Walker was born on June 26, 1968, in Atlanta. He graduated from The Lovett School in 1986, where he was Student Body President and a state champion wrestler.
In 1990 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Virginia. While at UVA, Walker wrestled for the Cavaliers and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Upon graduation, Walker’s heart for music drew him to develop and lead his band, Isaac Curry, as a singer and songwriter. It was not long, however, before he discovered another work passion, beginning a real estate career and working for more than twenty years in General Contracting and Construction Management. Eventually his two passions of real estate development and music merged and he formed Bravo Entertainment Group.
Walker married the love of his life, Natalie Brown, on May 27, 2000. Natalie and Walker have two beautiful daughters, Sally Anne and Wiley. Walker loved his children dearly and was a devoted father. Spending time with them on the Tophat soccer fields, coaching both of their teams, gave him so much pleasure. He took great interest in and was very proud of his girls’ accomplishments both academically and athletically. Walker enjoyed fishing, was an avid reader, and food enthusiast, often preparing gourmet meals for his family.
Golf was Walker’s favorite pastime and you could often find him playing at Cherokee Country Club. There he forged many meaningful, long-time relationships. Family and friends were always at the forefront of Walker’s life. Everyone was automatically drawn to his charismatic personality, smile, and humor. He was a genuine, trustworthy, and deeply loyal friend to all who knew him. Walker’s larger than life personality and unwavering commitment to family creates a profound void in the lives of those who loved him. His legacy is the deep imprint he has left on so many of our hearts that we know will never fade.
In addition to his loving wife of 18 years and his two daughters, Walker is survived by his mother, Anne Houk, his brothers, David Houk Jr. (Lisa), Hollis Houk (Julia), nephews, Hollis, William, and James. He is also survived by his in-laws, Sally and Carey Brown, along with his brother-in-law, Brent Brown, and nieces, Madeline and Natalie. Walker was preceded in death by his father, David Houk, and brother-in-law, LT Tyler Brown. The Memorial Service, followed by a reception, will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 4th, 2019, at Northside United Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Walker’s honor can be made to The Lovett School, 4075 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta 30327, in support of the Coach Jim Glasser Wrestling Fund. www.lovett.org/walkerhouk
