To sum up Vinod’s life and his impact on others in only a few paragraphs would be an impossible task – but one we’re still willing to try. Vinod Varghese Thomas was born to C.P. and Elizabeth Thomas in Kerala, India on March 18, 1968. He grew up in several different parts of India due to his father’s career with the Indian Postal Service. In 1987, Vinod moved to Seattle to join his uncle before moving to Southern California for over twenty years.
When Vinod came to Southern California, he began his career in mortgage banking while attending school at night. Vinod obtained his degree in Finance from California State University Fullerton. He was well known professionally for his patience, intelligence, calm demeanor and genuineness.
Through his work he met his wife, Joy. They were quickly in love in a way that everyone could see. Vinod and Joy married in 2007 in Laguna Beach. Together they advanced their careers and traveled as much as they could. In 2013, their twins, Abraham and Alexandra were born. Vinod was thrilled and both became his biggest adventure and favorite topic. As a family of four, traveling continued even more than before. He loved time with the twins away from home and work, where all could explore and learn together. He felt like he saw the best versions of each family member when traveling.
In addition to leisure travel, Vinod relocated the family to Ohio, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina for professional opportunities. At the time of his death, he was the Chief Servicing Officer for Lima One Capital in Greenville, S.C.
Through all the cities and jobs he would continue to stay connected closely with so many. He was one to always remember everyone’s birthdays even before Facebook existed to remind everyone else. At work he always had time for those who needed him. He enjoyed mentoring others to achieve their personal success. He will be greatly missed by many in his company, but some may not miss his detailed and insightful emails sent in the middle of the night.
Vinod is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Thomas. He is survived by his wife (Joy), their children (Abraham and Alexandra), his siblings (Renu and Rana), his father (C.P.).
Services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319 on March 23rd at 2:00PM. A viewing will be at the same location on March 22 5:00-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the scholarship fund for Abraham and Alexandra on Vinod’s memorial website. https://everloved.com/life-of/vinod-varhese-thomas/
