Tim was striking for his kindness, which he extended to all humans and many animals with his ever-helpful attitude. His natural humility and quiet humor won over almost all who met him. He was a favorite at work and of his family. The adjective used by one of his nephews when describing his Uncle Tim was “solid.” Whether carving a pumpkin with a young niece, or instilling his own work ethic in his boys, he was a husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and friend that cared about and could communicate with almost anyone.
Tim’s strength was born of hardships. He quietly bore many medical issues with hardly a complaint, though a grumble might be heard if it was preventing him from participating as fully in his son’s lives. For a while he had to give up his livelihood and passion, woodworking, when he developed lung issues, but tackled with gusto new work with his brother’s company. After lung transplant he tackled life again with renewed energy, much of it invested in his family life.
Tim died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Friday, November 21, 2014, of a heart attack. He was just shy of his 44th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Davis O’Gara, three sons, Dillon (17), Cullen (14) and Conor (12), his father and stepmother, Kevin and Candy O’Gara, his siblings, Kevin O’Gara, Bob O’Gara, and Nancy Nievera, many nieces and nephews, and six rescued animals.
There will be a visitation at H. M. Patterson & Son - Spring Hill, 1020 Spring Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday evening, November 24th, from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock. The funeral is at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, at 10:30 o'clock on Tuesday November 25th. Donations in Tim's memory may be made to Georgia Transplant Foundation or the Atlanta Humane Society.
