Ted was born in Happy, Texas to Cecil and Hattie Briggs on September 1, 1935. He attended school in Texas, eventually earning an advanced degree in chemistry. Ted worked for Dow Chemical on the Texas Gulf Coast, as well as the Bureau of Mines Helium Research Center in Amarillo, Texas where he met his wife, Beverly. Ted and Beverly settled in the Washington D.C area, where Ted became an Investigator in the Office of Investigations of the United States International Trade Commission. Ted was a devoted father, grandfather, son, and husband. He instilled in his son, Matthew, a lifelong passion for learning and provided invaluable counsel throughout his young adulthood. Nothing made Ted smile more than watching his young grandchildren shop for toys. He dedicated his early retirement years to the care of Hattie and Beverly until their passing. In his later years, Ted loved to travel, dance, and attend potluck dinners.
Ted was preceded in death by Cecil, Hattie, and Beverly.
Ted is survived by Matthew, daughter-in-law Karen, and grandchildren Andrew and Abigail.
Funeral services were held privately.
