Ruby Franklin Tolson died at 93 years of age at her home in Cumming, Georgia on May 20, 2018. She was born on September 30, 1924 in Greenville, Tennessee. Her parents were George Washington Franklin and Perna Erwin Franklin. She had three sisters Emma, Georgie, and Johnnie. She married William Earl Tolson in 1948. She enjoyed playing bridge and canasta with her friends. She was survived by her son Michael Alan Tolson M.D. of Cumming, Georgia and her four grandchildren Gunnar Tolson, Maggie Tolson, Abby Hawkins, and Joseph Denly. She was also survived by her nephew Jason Eagle of Fargo, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband William Earl Tolson who died on November 15, 2002 and her daughter Barbara Diane Tolson who died on April 24, 1996. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on May 26, 2018 at H.M. Patterson Oglethorpe Chapel in Brookhaven, Georgia. A reception will follow immediately. She was a strong and determined woman who was fueled by the love she had for her son and four grandchildren. After the tragic loss her daughter Barbara she could have chosen to turn away from her faith, but she stood firm. Ruby never apologized for who she was and lived her life with pride and self-assurance. Though her health deteriorated in her last few years, she will be remembered as the independent, fierce, and persistent woman she was. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
