With his children at his side, Robert (Bob) Augustus Oslin, Age 96, completed his long and anxiously awaited journey home to meet his Maker on Thursday, November 17, 2022. He was born August 26, 1926 in Washington, Georgia, the youngest of two children. While being raised in the same home with his father (R.A. Oslin, Jr.), a Deacon Ameritus, and grandfather (R.A. Oslin, Sr.), an Ordained Minister, a strong religious spirit was instilled in him at a very young age. He enjoyed the outdoors (especially fishing), worked various jobs in town, and participating in high school sports.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Air Corp (1943) and served his country until 1948. Moving to Atlanta, he pursued and received his Bachelors in Civil Engineering, and Surveying and Mapping at Georgia Tech University. He was employed by Shirey Nelson & Associates, Inc., Roberts Engineering Group, and later was self-employed founding R.A. Oslin & Associates.
“Oz” (as he was so often called) married his soul-mate, Gale, on November 12, 1955. They were longtime, dedicated members at Brookhaven Baptist Church in Atlanta where they raised their three children. He proudly served as a Deacon and thoroughly enjoyed singing in the choir.
Bob is survived by his children, Brenda Richardson and husband Earl, Linda Smith, Burney Oslin and wife Penny; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Gale and his sister Sarah Sibert. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and loyal friend. He enjoyed sharing selfless acts of kindness, serving as a Gideon, and was a faithful servant to the Lord.
