Robert Andrew “Andy” Hallenberg, 61, of Johns Creek, GA passed away on November 16, 2023, after a battle with brain cancer. Andy was born November 20, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Bellis Hallenberg and Carolyn Roberts Hallenberg. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1970, where he made lifelong friends. He graduated from Peachtree High School and attended Auburn University before graduating from Georgia State University. He worked for New York Life Insurance Company for 35 years until his retirement in March 2023.
Andy married his wife, Ellen, in 1988 and moved to Johns Creek, GA in 1997 with their daughter Christy, where they lived until his death.
He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Carolyn Hallenberg, his brother James Hallenberg and stepbrother Paul Hudgins. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen Hallenberg; daughter Christy Hallenberg; stepmother Frances Hallenberg of Dunwoody, GA; sister Carol James (Walter) of Snellville, GA; brother Bill Hallenberg (Julie) of Birmingham, AL; stepsister Anna Searing (Eric) of Suwanee, GA; father-in-law, Gene Cox of Buckhead, GA; sisters-in-law Betsy D’Addamio (George) of Johns Creek, GA and Barbara Cox-Geyer of Acworth, GA; nieces and nephews: Allie Hallenberg, Kate D’Addamio (Damian), Spencer Geyer, Emma and Connor Searing, Griffin and Caroline Hudgins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
A memorial service will be held on Friday December 1, 2023, at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
