Richard was born to John and Irene Starks. He married his loving wife, Mary Steinbacher, in Hawaii. He graduated from American University.
Upon graduation, he worked in finance, property management, and IT for seventeen years, then focused his energy on raising his children, Jacob and Adam Starks, and cultivating a strong family and community. Along the way, he worked in a variety of areas, finally settling in to working event security for the local Atlanta music and arts scene.
He threw himself into each of his passions: family, friends, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, good beer, and the open road.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Irene, and is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Jacob and Adam, his brother Terrence, his father, John, and the countless family he loyally chose along the way.
Private memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023, followed by a celebration of life with all those who loved him at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Richard can be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org/. The Starks family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those who rallied to support us in recent days.
