Richard Mitchell Barker

Richard M. Barker, born in Rome, Georgia on February 21, 1944, passed away peacefully in a hospice facility in Snellville, Georgia on November 9, 2015 to be with the Lord, family and friends in Heaven. He was a U.S. Marine Sergeant, Korean War Veteran, and was awarded three purple hearts for wounds sustained in combat in Korea. Richard was retired from the Mead Corporation after thirty-nine years of service. He was dearly loved by six orphaned brothers and sisters and life-long friend, Charles Rinehart. Richard loved family, friends, little children, rescue animals and opportunities to help those who needed assistance or encouragement. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Wounded Warriors or animal rescue. A graveside service will be Held Tuesday, November 17 at 12:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
