Phyllis, a residence of Johns Creek, GA since 2012, was born in Danville, Virginia and raised her children in Lynchburg, VA. After retirement she spent 20+ years on Seabrook Island, where she was called Miss Phyllis, because of her southern manners and grace.
She was an avid golfer and card player, but mostly known for her commitment to the community, organizing social groups and planning activities. Phyllis was a lifelong church member and belonged to the John’s Island Presbyterian Church near her home on Seabrook Island.
While living in John’s Creek at the Sunrise Assisted Living at Ivey Ridge, she continued her efforts to bring people together and to help those struggling with the aging process. She was known as a Prayer Warrior among the staff and by her friends, who will miss her greatly.
It is difficult to express in words the impact Phyllis had on her family and friends, as she was the one everyone could always count on.
Family was very important to her and she adored them all: daughter Diane Upham (husband Gary), son Phillip Ingram (wife Mary Beth), grandchildren Erica Parra (husband Trevor), Seth Lilly, Elizabeth Stiebel (husband Derek), Jennifer McNett (husband Todd), and great grandchildren, Gavin, Grant, Tegan, Margaret, Hannah and Haley, stepson Gary Howard (wife Kim) and their children Paige and Peyton.
Phyllis was preceded to heaven by husband Ernest Melton Ingram in 1984, husband William Howard in 2011 and grandson Brian Melton Ingram in 2014.
