Pete A. Poulos (Panagiotis Poulokefalos), 80, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on August 21, 2018. Pete was born in Karyes, Lakonias, Greece to Andreas and Sofia (Theodorakakis) Poulokefalos and immigrated to the US in late ‘60s. He spent a few years in South Carolina with beloved family, then relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. He married Eugenia Vlachos in 1971 in Sellasia, Lakonias, Greece. A difficult childhood in rural, war-torn Greece shaped his work ethic and love of family and friends. As a self-made entrepreneur, he owned several restaurants and businesses with a particular interest in real estate.
Pete focused his hard work and efforts on ensuring a solid foundation for his family.
He was also dedicated to supporting his extended family and helping friends and other immigrants beginning their lives in the US. A man of fewer words than thoughts and actions, Pete often greeted people with a handshake, asking about their lives, and enjoyed assessing opportunities over a cup of coffee. Pete is survived by his wife Eugenia, his children (Andrew, Sylvia, and Danae), his siblings (Triso, Jim and Niki), and a large extended family.
Visitation and prayer services will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, August 24, at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 25, at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC), 4900 Lewis Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30083, and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2500 Clairmont Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
