Pamela Armbruster Mitchell
March 12, 1948 – January 18, 2017
Wife, aunt, friend, colleague, mentor. This precious woman is mourned by hundreds of people whose lives and livelihoods she influenced. Born in St. Louis, Pam devoted nearly 45 conscientious years to the company now known as Arch/Lonza. She was married to Van Mitchell (d. 9-18-2014) for 30 years.
Her parents were Blanche (Heinold) and Herman Lewis Armbruster. She is survived by her brother James Armbruster and sister-in-law Cathy Armbruster, nephew George Armbruster, and in-laws Robert and Patricia Mitchell of Memphis, TN, and their children Pamela and Randy.
Pam and Van relocated with her employer 26 years ago to mid-town Atlanta, GA to take advantage of the cultural opportunities just steps away from their high rise condominium on Peachtree St. She traveled extensively, both professionally and for pleasure, leaving her story of people and events documented in tens of thousands of photographs. She was a life-long learner who was a member of numerous civic organizations.
A Memorial Service will be held at her beloved, historic North Avenue Presbyterian Church, 607 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA, 30308 on February 11, 2017 at 2PM with reception following at the nearby Georgian Terrace Hotel, 659 Peachtree St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her church or to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
