Visitation will be held at Patterson’s Spring Hill in Atlanta on November 14, 2015, 3 until 4 o'clock. Memorial service will immediately follow. Leigh was born in Atlanta to Spence and Ve McClelland on January 9, 1953. She went to high school at Sandy Springs High School and graduated in 1971. She went on to earn a B.A. degree from Atlantic Christian Barton College in Wilson, N.C. She worked as an actress and professional singer for many years, in local clubs and regional theater. Leigh performed at numerous benefit concerts during the AIDS crisis, and was a passionate advocate for the advancement of treatment and care for those afflicted with AIDS. She was inspired by her own healing experience with Acupuncture following back surgery, and earned her Master of Science in Eastern Medicine and earned the certification of Diplomate. She spent the last few years in private practice, served on the Georgia Composite Medical Board for Acupuncture, and as a consulting acupuncturist with Jencare. She loved singing, fishing, practical jokes and anything that involved her family. She is loved for her kind heart, her talent, her humor and her devotion to her family and friends and her practice of healing.
Leigh is survived by her partner of 29 years, Linda Sheldon, Linda’s son Stephen Sheldon and his family, her sister Lynda McClelland McBride of Atlanta, her brother, Dr. John McClelland of Baton Rouge, her sister Kay McClelland Naugle of Atlanta, niece Jordan, nephew Taylor, niece Ella and great niece Hannah, nephew Spence, niece Elizabeth and niece Sarah.
